Workshop Description:
This webinar will showcase a new tool, designed to help compare your municipality’s development standards to national benchmarks for avoiding, reducing, and managing stormwater runoff. We will cover the “whys” and “hows” of the LID Site Planning and Design Techniques: A Municipal Self-Assessment and discuss additional supporting materials and assistance.
Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
-Recognize the need for, purpose of, and importance of LID and the Self-Assessment
-Describe the Self-Assessment’s major sections, how the Primer links work, and how to work with other staff to complete it and share the results
-Know what resources are available to support completing the Self-Assessment and for making follow-up amendments
-Recognize that there is longer term follow-up intended after the Self-Assessment is completed, in both reporting results to RIDEM and in making changes to local ordinances in response to those results
-Motivate municipal staff and planning boards to complete the Self-Assessment
-Help municipalities understand that there is a deadline for SNEP technical assistance and now is the time to take advantage of that assistance
