Climate Resilience Planning with Aquidneck Island Communities

With support from the SNEP Network, the Town of Middletown, RI has developed a Climate Resiliency Planning and Financing Strategy that will serve as a roadmap on how to prioritize and finance resilience-focused capital infrastructure projects and associated programs. With this strategy, the Town of Middletown is positioned to advance their climate resilience goals and move towards funding and financing, and implementation. With similar projects completed in Newport, RI and Portsmouth, RI in 2021 and 2022, this project with Middletown completes this next level of climate resilience planning for all three Aquidneck Island communities.

In collaboration with the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, the SNEP Network organized the Aquidneck Island Climate Leadership Exchange. The 3 part workshop series brought together local experts, municipal leadership, and other stakeholders from across the Island to discuss opportunities for collaboration and advancing projects that address common concerns and are of regional significance to all three Aquidneck Island communities.

The SNEP Network is administered through EPA’s partnership with the New England Environmental Finance Center, a non-profit technical assistance provider for EPA Region 1.
